	Renate was raised in Germany`s Black Forest. She was surrounded by photography while growing up, but as a girl, she had to find her own way to the technical knowledge she would need to compete with the best. At a young age, she managed to make a name for herself in the difficult field of fashion and advertising photography. In the tough and tumble fashion business, Renate learned the discipline of working against critical time schedules. She learned the capabilities of the best professional equipment and she employs only the best. Perhaps most importantly, she learned how to see personality in each subject, whether it was animal, vegetable or mineral. She learned how to draw it out. She learned about timing the shutter so that the moment is recorded with fidelity. .

		Marriage brought Renate to America. After that ended, she made her home in Sag Harbor, where her Studio is located on the premises. She has won numerous awards in Europe and the United States. Recently, she was honored by Suffolk County as photographer of the year (1995). The quality of her work and her personality, which infuses it, have earned her respect wherever she has practiced her art.

	Renate has mastered the technically difficult process of transferring hand colored photographic images to poster sized material using technology developed for Polaroid camera. She has taught college courses in the use of this technique and examples of her work have been accepted for display by Guild Hall. She has been invited to lecture on her technique by both Kodak and Polaroid corporations. Lately she has branched out into computer art which has resulted in her highly acclaimed portrait work. Those who live in the Hamptons are fortunate to have so many artists and artisans available that are the equal of any in the world. Renate Pfleiderer has been recognized as being among the best. .
